This is my very first time writing a book review. I wish I had commented on so many books that were fantastically wonderful, but this one, THE INNOCENTS was a most disappointing read.

When the last sentence ended, my out loud comment was, "Is this it?" A sense of basically reading nothing of interest. No surprises, nothing scary, not even a giggle/5().

Another big part of the book is about the ball players, their lives, and how they had absolutely no leverage with the organization and were at the mercy of owner Walter /5.

The catalyst for The Innocents was not an urge simply to re-tell a story — it was the moment I realized that the scaffolding of The Age of Innocence provided the perfect foundation for exploring questions of my own.

Some of these questions resonated with the issues that Wharton herself was examining, but others were solely my own preoccupations/5(68). Today, the date of Holy Innocents' Day, also called The Innocents' Day or Childermas or Children's Mass, varies.

"Michael Crummey’s new novel The Innocents is a fantastic read. Written in graceful and evocative prose, Ada and Evered's story blurs the boundary between the quotidian and the strange until it becomes a meditation on the curious fact of existence itself.
